moon cycle vintage

Vernal Equinox, Solar Eclipse, New Moon at 29 degrees Pisces. This degree is also known as the omega degree, the last degree of the zodiac before the cycle begins again at 1 degree Aries, also known as the alpha degree. The omega degree and the alpha degree…completions and new beginnings not only of an astrological cycle but also of seasons. In the northern hemisphere we transition today from winter to spring, from dark to light.

” I am being born anew. New Life is awakening in me. I am letting go of the past, and the past is letting go of me. I am free to love and be loved, to be all that I can be. Holy Mother Mary promises me new life and is guiding me to fulfillment of my Heart’s Destiny”  -Alana Fairchild in Mother Mary Oracle Guidebook

Some astrologers are saying that this eclipse has opened up a portal, to what I am not sure, but that will last through this next lunar cycle. The ancients interpreted total eclipses in varying ways, but a view I relate to is that when the moon blocks the rays of the sun, it opens up the earth to other cosmic energies pouring in from distant reaches that may otherwise be blocked by the glow of the sun.

At the dark of the moon the seed is planted. It ‘becomes’ through the first half of the lunar cycle and is fully harvested at the Full Moon. The second half of the lunar cycle offers opportunities to reflect back on what was started and came to fruition, in order to start the cycle again. I use the lunar cycle as a way to support starting new endeavors, setting intentions, planting ‘seeds’. One astrological account I read mentioned that when coupled with an eclipse, the new moon energy is very strong to support these new beginnings. So what a good night to set an intention. It is the start of a new lunar and solar cycle.

My New Moon intention: to surrender the things in my life that no longer serve me in order to open and soften my heart to those new energies that are pouring forth in order to gain new awareness and sight.

What intentions do you have for this new beginning?
