There are so many beautiful teachers in the world at this time. We all find our own teachers, those who speak to our heart, and a teacher for one is not a teacher for all. Marion Woodman is one such teacher for me. A Jungian therapist and prolific author and speaker living in Canada, her life’s journey is the journey of the heart, her heart. One of her main messages is that the body IS a legitimate source of vast knowledge. In order to address the needs and dilemmas of our modernity including globalization, market economies, and the environment, it is imperative to find answers through body and heart (as opposed to the ‘little self’). Her most famous works include Addicted To Perfection, and Bone, Dying Into Life.
“What I strive for is empowerment, where you sense your own strength right through your whole being, that you are in touch with your feelings, anxieties and needs of your body. You are grounded in that and are embodied and through that embodiment you are empowered. You can act out of who you are, stand in your own truth and express your own truth. At the same time-and here’s the paradox-you’re strong enough to step aside and let the much greater energy through. That’s a real strength, the real power too, because you’re in the Dao..not trying to push your own little ego desires and trying to force them on yourself and other people. To me that’s power” (quote by Marion Woodman)
I invite you to watch this inspiring documentary, created by filmmaker Adam Greydon Reid and guided by author & religious scholar Andrew Harvey, about Marion, her incredible life, and what I believe is medicine for our times.
